The Davidovica Monastery
The monastery David founded stands on the Lim, near Brodarevo in the historical region of Polimlje, and came to bear his monastic name as Davidovica. The synaxarion describes it simply as a monastery he built at Brodarova on the River Lim; the historical record places its construction around 1281 and connects it with builders from Dubrovnik, reflecting the architectural exchange between the Serbian lands and the Adriatic coast in this period.
Having endowed the house, David entered it as a monk rather than continuing as its lay patron, a pattern of withdrawal from rule into monastic repentance that recurs among the Nemanjic saints. He is said to have lived there in asceticism until his death.
